ABIT Announces Newest 100MHz BX Chipset Board with Soft MenuTMIIand Five PCI slots, the BH6

Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, June 24, 1998.
Coinciding with the newest Pentium®II 350Mhz and 400MHz CPUs with the 100MHz system clock frequency, and the relevant 440BX chipset which supports this CPU, ABIT announced their newest 440BX based motherboard with Soft MenuTMII and five PCI slots, the BH6. ABIT's BH6 is the newest Intel 440BX based mainboard with the new 100MHz FSB which especially benefits users in the SOHO or multimedia environments.

Not enough PCI slots? How about five?
ABIT's new BH6 has One AGP, Five PCI and Two ISA slots to handle all of your expansion needs. It also has official support for Intel's newest Pentium®II 350 ~ 400MHz processors running on the 100MHz system bus as well as being backwards compatible to support Pentium®II 233 ~ 333MHz processors.

Features of Tomorrow for Today
The ABIT BH6 comes with all of the latest advancements and trends in the motherboard industry, including but not limited to; all the specifications for, AGP spec Rev. 1.0 for improved 3D graphics performance at a lower cost, APM/ACPI power management, Ultra DMA 33 support, Infrared peripheral support, USB, PS/2 mouse and keyboard connectors, CPU auto-detect, AWARD write protect anti-virus, and Wake On LAN and hardware health monitoring and the now industry standard SB-LinkTM for Sound Blaster compatibility for real-mode DOS games.

APM stands for Advanced Power Management and it is a feature rich power management function for a more energy efficient P.C. It includes Soft Power On/Off, Sleep, Suspend and Stand-By mode, Real Time Clock (RTC) Alarm and RTC Power On, and Modem Ring On. The networking standard Wake On Lan (WOL) is also supported. The ABIT BH6 also supports the new standard in hard disk drive technology, Ultra DMA 33. It allows for double the transfer rate over standard IDE drive technology. Wireless keyboards, printers, mouse and joysticks are also supported by the BH6 thanks to the on board iRDA (Infrared) pin header. There are also two USB connectors on the ABIT BH6 so you can take advantage of the newest Universal Serial Bus peripherals. Also included are PS/2 mouse and keyboard connectors if you prefer to use this other new type of keyboard and mouse port. The BH6's three DIMM sockets also provide enough main memory capacity for business computing, 3D gaming, multimedia applications and CAD/CAM applications as well.

Soft MenuTMII
BIT's award winning patented Soft MenuTM CPU configuration just got better with the introduction of Soft MenuTMII. ABIT's R&D teams worked hard and have made some new technological breakthroughs with the introduction of Soft MenuTMII. The BH6 implements Soft MenuTMII technology that eliminates all jumpers on the mainboard that set CPU parameters, allowing end-users to easily and correctly install or upgrade their own Pentium II processor with MMXTM technology. Normally certain features cannot be changed in the BIOS of other jumperless motherboards, but ABIT has developed a way to configure a greater range of features with their new Soft MenuTMII. Those of you familiar with our Soft MenuTM original will notice that Soft MenuTMII has a few other improvements as well. It also offers a more enhanced boot up speed over the Soft MenuTM original and saves your CPU configuration in a new manner that by-passes the default settings, saving them into the new Soft MenuTMII circuitry so that you do not have to reenter the values again. The BH6 BIOS supports an external clock of 66/75/83/100/112/133Mhz, a multiplier factor of 2/2.5/3/3.5/4/4.5/5 and a core voltage range of 1.30 up to 2.30 for the Pentium® II 333~400MHz CPUs and up to 3.2 volts when using a Pentium ®II 233MHz ~ 300MHz CPU. The voltages are changeable in upwards range of 15% within 0.05 steps, for example, 2.00, 2.05, 2.10, 2.15. SoftMenuTMII also has the feature called Real Power Overclocking. There are some CPUs where the Multiplier factor was locked in order to limit the overclocking action by the end-user. ABIT has solved this problem-by using the selection item SEL 100/66#Signal. The Power user may choose between High and Low to unlock the multiplier factor for overclocking the CPU frequency and achieve the best CPU performance with limited cost.

Retain Yourself
Starting with the Retention Module for the BH6, ABIT has developed and implemented many features on the BH6 for maximum quality and usability. For the convenience of all customers, ABIT provides the Retention Module, a solution for both Pentium®II, (SECC) and Celeron (SEP) Modules. Other design features include:
a) ReNew Fuse which is a special selection of Polyfuse components to avoid sudden heavy power currency input through input devices causeing Mainboard damage
b) Voltage security-which consists of 6 pieces of LESR (low equivalent serial resistor) to lower high resistor values and stabilize the CPU Vcore voltage which can protect the CPU and system from suddenly shutting down.
c) Clock Generator-which uses the latest 28 pin technology clock generator for supporting up to 124/133Mhz external clock adjustment

User Friendly, Friendly User
In addition to the Chipset Heatsink Latch which ABIT provides a in order to prevent the chipset heatsink from falling off when the system is running at a high speed, ABIT is also making sure that all its customer know about the Year 2000 Compliance that comes with ABIT BIOSes.

Compatibility

ABIT's Hardware Approval Team and FAE team cross test with over 48 hours of burn-in testing with more than 100 Components ranging from: CPUs/ SDRAM modules Add-on Cards: VGA cards/Sound cards /Video cards/LAN cards /SCSI cards Storage: FDD/Ultra DMA IDE HDD/ and peripherals such as: Monitor/Mouse/Keyboard case/power supply and operating systems such as: Windows 3.1/95/98 (OEM version)/NT and UNIX . ABIT does this to make sure that the motherboard has ultimate usability and stability to work in all possible environments.

Reliability
At ABIT the most import type of customer service is the one of reliability, that's why ABIT is Your Reliable Partner ABIT is one of the world's most famous board designers with recognition from world magazine editors and Lab testers. ABIT has some of the most strict in-house testing, through a hardware design team, an approval team and the FAE test team . At ABIT all boards go through a factory Burn-in of 24 hours , MTBF of 500,000 hours and are approved by the outside test Labs and has certification from the Intel Lab, the CE Lab, the EMI/EMC/EMS , the FCC Lab, the NSTL, and the Microsoft Windows test.

With so many features packed into a BX board ABIT continues to lead the industry and continues to be Your Reliable Partner.
