BX
Motherboard".
In addition to more advanced hardware specifications, the BX6 Rev 2.0's great compatibility and outstanding performance make itself a perfect high-end system solution. The BX6 is also famous for its 6 chip Data Buffer Set, a Server-Level specification, to ensure the system memory stability and reliability under 8 banks of DRAM running. The Data Buffer acts as a power enhancement to increase the stability and data integrity when using all 4 DIMM slots. Although the Data Buffer set is recommended in Intel design specifications, most other BX motherboards with 4 DIMM slots don't use it because of the cost issue.
The BX6 Rev 2.0, as others in ABIT's family, supports the most advanced Jumperless Technology, SoftMenuTM IIwhich provides ABIT's customers the easiest and safest environment to achieve ultimate performance. Along with the SoftMenuTM II feature of being able to change the Vcore requirements for the CPU, there is now included a new set of bus speed settings that allow for a greater range of CPU functioning. In addition there is a new clock generator that allows for a ? PCI divider for bus speeds higher than 100MHz as well as an AGP divider of 1/1 or 2/3 to keep the AGP as close to 66MHz as possible when above 100+MHz. Finally, included in the BX6 Rev 2.0's Soft MenuTM II features, is the ability to manually specify IRQ placement. This was a much sought after feature that greatly helps in maintaining IRQ conflicts to a minimum.
To give the user the maximum in security and stability, the BX6 Rev 2.0 has integrated the Winbond Hardware Monitoring chipset. With the Hardware Doctor, a self-diagnostic software program for the PC, the user can monitor the following hardware configurations under Microsoft Windows 95/98:
